I mated Ebony Rose' dam- Countess to Stefano on purpose.
I would not normally mate a black to a white male, but Stefano has the ability to tap into the black lines and produce a quality black.
I personally aim in my black alpacas for them to display the qualities of a quality white fleece, which when Stefano threw a black, these are the qualities he threw.
This combination was used once before throwing a high quality med fawn.
It did not matter which colour i did get from this mating, i knew that i could improve the fleece qualities of the progeny which i could take bck to black if i wanted to in the future.
I knew that time was at an essence with Stefano, reaching 19 1/2 yrs old, i knew that any breeding dicisions i would ake were going to be my last chance of getting these marvelles genes into anyone that we could breed with.
We were delighted in the birth of Ebony Rose, this was our aim, and she has not dissappointed us. DOB 14/2/2008
